Use the correct Mac power design

MacBook Pro charging requirements vary by model and workload. Compare the supported adapter and cable with the installed configuration, and note whether the problem is confined to one charging port or appears on every supported path. One possible explanation is that a component on a standby supply is drawing excessive current before startup.

Power and data precautions

Stop high-load testing if the charger connection or board area becomes unusually hot. Blind voltage injection can damage processors and storage.

Model-specific checks

1. Compare supported ports, charger profiles, battery condition and board current behaviour.
2. Measure resistance with all power removed and isolate the affected rail without heating sensitive parts.

Repair and startup verification

If the checks support this cause, replace the confirmed shorted component and inspect its supply stage. Verification should cover all charging ports, full-power operation, battery transition, sleep and shutdown.
