MacBook Pro Apple-Silicon Power Path: Power-button signal fault | Auckland
Pattern to record: Automatic power-on may work while pressing the power control does not.
Use the correct Mac power design
MacBook Pro charging requirements vary by model and workload. Compare the supported adapter and cable with the installed configuration, and note whether the problem is confined to one charging port or appears on every supported path. One possible explanation is that the keyboard, top-case or button line is not delivering a valid start request.
Power and data precautions
Stop high-load testing if the charger connection or board area becomes unusually hot. Shorting board points is unsafe and can damage adjacent circuits.
Model-specific checks
- Compare supported ports, charger profiles, battery condition and board current behaviour.
- Compare alternative supported startup triggers and trace the button signal with power isolated.
Repair and startup verification
If the checks support this cause, repair the button, top-case connection or signal path confirmed by testing. Verification should cover all charging ports, full-power operation, battery transition, sleep and shutdown.
