Pattern to record: The Mac begins startup current draw but stops at a repeatable stage.
Use the correct Mac power design
MacBook Pro charging requirements vary by model and workload. Compare the supported adapter and cable with the installed configuration, and note whether the problem is confined to one charging port or appears on every supported path. One possible explanation is that a required supply rail appears late, unstable or not at all.
Power and data precautions
Stop high-load testing if the charger connection or board area becomes unusually hot. Replacing a complex power IC without finding its trigger can repeat the failure.
Model-specific checks
- Compare supported ports, charger profiles, battery condition and board current behaviour.
- Record the power sequence and compare prerequisite signals before replacing the PMIC.
Repair and startup verification
If the checks support this cause, repair the failed supply or control condition identified by sequence testing. Verification should cover all charging ports, full-power operation, battery transition, sleep and shutdown.
