USB-C Docking Monitor: Monitor thermal shutdown | Auckland
Pattern to record: The display works from cold and turns off after a repeatable period.
Separate the panel from the source
Test video, USB data and laptop charging separately on a USB-C monitor. Success in one function does not prove that the same cable, host port and monitor can support the others. One possible explanation is that a component or blocked airflow reaches its protection temperature.
Display-path checks
- Test every function with a known full-featured cable and compare other inputs.
- Record temperature and operating time at controlled brightness.
Handling and electrical safety
Not every USB-C cable carries video or the monitor's full charging power. Covering vents for testing can create further damage.
Image and input verification
If the checks support this cause, repair cooling, the heat-sensitive component or its supply stage. Verification should cover video, USB, charging, Ethernet if fitted, sleep and cable reconnection.
