Make Your Mouse Cross Between Monitors at the Correct Edge
When both monitors display a stable picture but the pointer crosses at the wrong side, check their arrangement in Windows. The system's layout may not match the physical desk even though every cable is working.
Open Settings, System, Display and select Identify. A number appears on each detected screen. Use those numbers rather than assuming the left-hand monitor is display 1. If you want separate working space on each screen, press Windows key plus P and select Extend; Duplicate intentionally shows the same desktop on both.
Match the desk layout
Drag the numbered display rectangles into the corresponding left, right or stacked arrangement and select Apply. Pay attention to vertical alignment as well as horizontal order. If the physical screens are at different heights, the point where the cursor can cross may feel surprising until the virtual arrangement is adjusted.
Move the pointer across each intended boundary. Try near the top and bottom, and drag a harmless window across too. This is a practical acceptance check: an arrangement that looks plausible in Settings may still be awkward in normal use.
Select the appropriate screen before changing any screen-specific setting. If the real problem is small text rather than pointer direction, examine scaling separately instead of making several display changes at once.
Check the docking routine
Windows provides options under Multiple displays for remembering window locations based on monitor connection and minimising windows when a monitor disconnects. Choose the behaviour that fits how you use the laptop, then test one ordinary undock and reconnect cycle after saving your work.
If a monitor disappears from Display settings, shows no picture or repeatedly reconnects, that is a different problem from layout. Record the cable, adapter and dock arrangement and investigate detection or signal stability. Moving rectangles cannot repair a missing signal. Keep a screenshot of a comfortable layout if you frequently reconnect to several desks.
