Workstation Firmware and POST: Missing firmware boot entry | Auckland
Pattern to record: Windows Boot Manager or the expected loader is absent despite a healthy drive.
Record the boot configuration
Workstations may have multiple memory channels, add-in storage controllers and protected array settings. Record the installed layout and diagnostic code; preserve RAID configuration when reducing the machine to a supported test configuration. One possible explanation is that the reference to a valid operating-system loader has been deleted or reordered.
Preserve recovery options
Do not initialise storage controllers or clear security data during basic POST diagnosis. Selecting an unrelated entry may hide the real storage problem.
Firmware and hardware checks
- Use diagnostic codes and minimum supported configuration while preserving RAID and security settings.
- Verify the loader on disk and inspect the UEFI boot list.
Recovery and startup checks
If the checks support this cause, recreate the correct signed entry and place it in a sensible order. Verification should cover cold boot, all memory channels, storage controller state, expansion devices and sustained work.
