USB-C Docking Monitor: Panel timing controller fault | Auckland
Pattern to record: Half-screen, fixed lines or washed colours remain over the monitor's own menu.
Separate the panel from the source
Test video, USB data and laptop charging separately on a USB-C monitor. Success in one function does not prove that the same cable, host port and monitor can support the others. The circuit distributing pixel timing is unstable or unpowered; this particular explanation requires a compatible LCD panel design and does not establish a fault in an OLED model.
Display-path checks
- Test every function with a known full-featured cable and compare other inputs.
- Compare internal menu behaviour and measure local panel supplies.
Handling and electrical safety
Not every USB-C cable carries video or the monitor's full charging power. Panel ribbons are fragile and should not be handled live.
Image and input verification
If the checks support this cause, repair the T-CON supply or replace the confirmed panel-level assembly. Verification should cover video, USB, charging, Ethernet if fitted, sleep and cable reconnection.
For an assessment of your USB-C monitor, contact AEPC in Burswood or call 027 908 8880. Provide the model and the conditions that reproduce this problem. Workshop visits are by appointment.
